Child & Adult Care Food Program (CACFP)
The Child and Adult Care Food Program (CACFP) is a federally funded program administered by the NYS Department of Health (DOH). Child Care Council of Nassau is a sponsor of family day care homes in Nassau County.
CACFP's Mission
- To ensure that nutritious and safely-prepared meals and snacks are available to children and adults in day care settings
- To provide reimbursement for qualifying meals and snacks served in child or adult day care centers, outside-school-hours care programs, family day care homes, and homeless shelters
CACFP is one of the key building blocks for good nutrition and quality family child care. The program helps providers plan healthy meals and boost healthy eating habits in children. The nutritious and appealing meals being served aim to encourage children to eat a wide variety of healthy foods.
